The reason for creating this website is twofold: 1) there is virtually no information on the Internet about Padre Antonio José Martínez, Cura de Taos and 2) cyberspace affords a unique opportunity to share, with the widest audience possible, news items, scholarly research, articles, biographical information, and artistic interpretation about the life, times, and historical significance of this beloved Nineteenth-Century New Mexico religious and political leader, and educator.

As you navigate this site you are invited to visit El Crepúsculo de la Libertad, which will provide current news and information about ongoing activities and projects regarding Padre Martínez. The Virtual Library will contain documents written by Padre Martínez, as well as historical and contemporary papers written about him, and his life.
